Julius Shulman’s LA Stories

Photographer, Julius Shulman says “The history of Los Angeles is the story of my life.” In this 2007 interview for the Getty Research Institute Schulman recounts the story of his life and how Los Angeles’s rise mirrors that of his photographic career. He tells how his family moved to  Los Angeles from the East coast in 1920 when Shulman was ten-years-old. The interview includes his memories of photographing Los Angeles’s great architecture and working with architects like John Lautner.
